Jean-Michel Basquiat

Inspired by Jay-Z's latest book "Decoded" I decided to do a little research on one of the most famous black painters of our time. Not only was he rubbing shoulders with the most popular socialites of his time something i found interesting is that he did most of his painting in $1000 Versace suits. In 2007 one of Basquiat's untitled works sold for a jaw dropping $14.6 million at Sotheby's in New York. Here's some background info on Jean-Michel and a few of his paintings. I anticipate hanging a few of these amazing pieces on the walls of my home in the near future, if i can get one for the low low that is LOL. Enjoy...SYNO!!!!!

Jean-Michel Basquiat (December 22, 1960 – August 12, 1988) was an American artist and the first artist of African descent to become an international art star. His career in art began as a graffiti artist in New York City in the late 1970s, and in the 1980s produced Neo-expressionist painting. Basquiat died due to a heroin overdose on August 12, 1988, at the age of 27. (Wikipedia)
